Medical assisting student uses professional equipment

Medical assistants (MA) have become an integral part of the healthcare team. They require a wide variety of skills, from administering medications by injection to preparing and monitoring medical insurance forms for services rendered.

There is a high demand for medical assistants in medical offices and clinics both locally and nationwide. Medical assisting is an expanding career area. Passing the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants examination or the American Medical Technologists examination.

The wage range as cited by the Bureau of Labor Statistics is from $12 to $18 per hour for medical assistants.  For medical coders, the wage range is between $19 to $25 per hour.
