Clery Act

Campus Safety

In December 2012, the website StateUniversity.com ranked Allan Hancock College fifth in California for campus safety.

The StateUniversity.com School Safety Ratings are based on campus crime statistics as reported by 450 of the largest U.S. colleges and universities. Each college’s safety score, which can range from 0 to 100, is calculated based on the number and type of campus crime reported during the calendar year. The underlying statistics are compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Crime Statistics

The Department of Education is committed to assisting schools in providing students with a safe environment to learn and to keeping parents and students well informed about campus security. In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or Clery Act, the Department of Education and the Allan Hancock College police department continue to compile an annual campus security report.

The Campus Security Act was amended in 1998. Any marked increase across years or in the revised statistics from previous years can be accounted for by the fact that the geographic boundaries for reporting were greatly expanded in 1998, and reporting of drug, alcohol, and weapons violations has also been broadened to include not only arrests, but also disciplinary referrals.

My purpose in taking classes is just to educate myself so then I can hopefully go back to work and educate both my coworkers as well as customers that we have."
