BOG Changes

BOG Fee Waiver Changes

ARE YOU AT RISK OF LOSING YOUR BOG FEE WAIVER?

Effective fall 2016, California community college students receiving the Board of Governors (BOG) Fee Waiver must meet minimum academic and progress standards to remain eligible for the BOG Fee Waiver.

If you are considering applying for the BOG Fee Waiver, please review the Academic and Progress Standards listed below to ensure you do not lose your fee waiver.

ACADEMIC STANDARDS

Cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher

If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.00 for two consecutive primary terms (fall and spring semesters are primary terms at Allan Hancock College) you will lose your fee waiver eligibility.

PROGRESS STANDARDS

Cumulative satisfactory completion of more than 50 percent of all credits attempted

If the cumulative number of credits you successfully complete is not more than 50 percent in two consecutive primary semesters, you will lose your fee waiver eligibility.

COMBINATION OF ACADEMIC AND PROGRESS STANDARDS

Any combination of two consecutive semesters of cumulative GPA below 2.00, and/or cumulative credit completion that is not more than 50 percent will result in loss of fee waiver eligibility and enrollment priority.

In order for students to maintain BOG eligibility, students must meet both the Academic and Progress Standards listed above.

  • These standards do to apply to foster youth (24 years and younger).
  • Students will be able to appeal the loss of the Board of Governors Fee Waiver and/or loss of priority registration based upon verifiable extenuating circumstances.

You will be notified within 30 days of the end of each term if you are being placed on either Academic (GPA) and/or Progress (credit completion) Probation. Your notification will include the information that a second term of probation will result in loss of fee waiver eligibility. After the second consecutive term of probation, you will lose eligibility for the fee waiver at your next registration opportunity.
