What is EOPS?

The Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) is a state-funded program designed to provide financial assistance, support, and encouragement for eligible low-income students.

What can EOPS do for me?

The following services are available to eligible students:

  • Book grants
  • Cash grants
  • Registration assistance
  • Peer advising
  • Career, academic, and personal counseling
  • Workshops
  • Annual social activities
  • Network with four-year institutions
  • Assistance with completing financial aid applications

Who qualifies for EOPS?

To qualify, a student must:

  • Be a California resident
  • Qualify for the Board of Governors’ Fee Waiver (BOG-FW A/B)
  • Be enrolled full time (12 units or more)
  • Have completed less than 70 units of college credit courses
  • Be educationally disadvantaged as determined by the EOPS criteria

How do I apply for EOPS?

  1. Click HERE for Application OR come to the EOPS office in bldg. A for an application
  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by going online to www.fafsa.gov

How do I know if I am eligible for EOPS?

Once your EOPS application has been processed the EOPS office will send an e-mail to your myHancock e-mail account notifying you of your eligibility status. Your application will not be processed until all required documents are received. 

 

SANTA MARIA -

If you are a current EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/CAFYES student you are eligible to schedule an appointment with an EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/CAFYES Counselor or sign up for an EOPS Activity in Santa Maria.

 

LOMPOC -

If you are a current EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/CAFYES student you are eligible to schedule an appointment with an EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/CAFYES Counselor or sign up for an EOPS Activity in Lompoc.

"Deciding to go back to school to learn English and obtain my GED has been one of the most important decisions I ever made. My credit ESL instructors guided and helped me to adjust to my new life as a student. They understood me as a student and as a person. Being a full-time worker, a full-time student, and a mother of three was not easy, but my instructors encouraged me to keep going. They spent time with me revising my writing and giving me feedback to improve my English, even after class time. They made me feel welcome and proud of being a student later in life. Now, I am a Hancock graduate with three AAs and am currently attending Cal Poly. I'm here because my instructors encouraged me to never give up. My ESL instructors believed in me even before I started believing in myself. It has been a long and not so easy road but I now know that I can reach all my goals."
