Admission Tips

While not required, it is highly recommended that students transfer in with English 101 and 102 or 103 as they are a prerequisite to many courses within the major.

Completing a minimum of 28 transferrable semester units is recommended for admission.  Students with less than 28 units should consult a University of La Verne academic advisor before applying.  University of La Verne will accept up to 84 semester units towards their bachelors degree. It is a good idea to see a University of La Verne academic advisor once you have completed 50 to 60 units, if not before then. Apply for financial aid between January 1 and March 2 prior to transfer if you can. Start researching scholarships early.  If you are following the CSU GE or IGETC pattern, make sure you are fully certified prior to enrolling at the University of La Verne.

Allan Hancock College counselors are committed to providing students with quality transfer planning information. This pathway has been developed using a variety of resources provided by the four-year university. It is not an admission guarantee, but a recommendation intended to provide students with clear information about courses that they will need to take in order to successfully transfer. Every effort has been made to make this pathway as accurate as possible; however, it is ultimately the student's responsibility to stay aware of changes that may affect his or her transfer. Because of the dynamic nature of articulation information and admission policies, information provided within this pathway is subject to change.

Fire Academy Student

"I chose the fire technology program at Allan Hancock because of what it can provide for me. It's giving me a step above the other academies and throughout the state. Graduates of this academy have gone on to be the chiefs and the captains that are going to be hiring us, so when we go in for interviews by being able to say that we graduated at this academy they know what we've experienced. Allan Hancock College has provided me with the physical and mental capabilities through the classroom training we do each day and the physical training we do each morning. This academy pushes you to your boundaries and then you begin to work on those weaknesses; your weaknesses then become your strengths so you're actually growing as a person. Allan Hancock has made a difference in my life it's really taught me who I am and where I want to be."
