Early Childhood Studies

Program Overview

The Early Childhood Studies Program provides you with theoretical and practical understanding of child development from infancy through adolescence. You will gain in-class and lab experience observing children, and have opportunities to design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum with children through the age of twelve.

The ECS academic program offers innovative instructional delivery of course material through lecture, small and large group activates, hands-on experiences, both in community programs and out award-winning childcare center on Santa Maria and Lompoc Valley campuses. The lab schools provide a real-life learning environment with support from highly qualified teachers, complete course assignments, observations, practicum experiences, tours, and obtain employment.
