FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION

  1. For students taking only cosmetology courses, the Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOG) will pay for the enrollment fees for eligible students. In addition, if the students apply by March 2 for the following fall semester and spring semester, they will be considered for the state Cal Grant program. The amount for the Cal Grant varies every year based upon the state budget.
  2. Students who indicate they are in the Cosmetology Associate Degree Program may be eligible to receive federal funds in addition to the BOG fee waiver and Cal Grant for the required general education courses. These funds can be used for educationally related expenses.

COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM

The Cosmetology program through Allan Hancock College is taught at the Institute of Beauty Culture in Santa Maria. The program requires 1,600 hours of training which prepares students for licensing as beauticians. Classes begin every six weeks throughout the year and are held 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. It takes 42 weeks to complete the program. Attendance is mandatory.

Prior to registering at Allan Hancock College you will need to:

  • Apply for admissions to Allan Hancock College online at www.hancockcollege.edu
  • If applicable, contact the Financial Aid department at (805) 922-6966 ext. 3200 to apply for the CCPG waiver.
  • Contact the Institute of Beauty Culture for an orientation. You will be put on a waiting list for the next available class. The week before classes start, the Institute of Beauty Culture will notify you when you have been cleared to register online for the class.

The registration fees for the program are $1,472 and the kit, which you purchase at the Institute of Beauty Culture, is $903.96 (+tax).

MANICURING PROGRAM

The Manicuring program through Allan Hancock College is taught at the Institute of Beauty Culture in Santa Maria. The program requires 400 hours of training which prepares students for licensing as manicurists. Classes begin every six weeks throughout the year. Classes are held Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It takes 11 weeks to complete the program. Attendance is mandatory.
