Fire Alarm

Familiarize yourself with all the exits from your area and building. The fire alarm is a loud intermittent horn with flashing lights.

When the Fire Alarm Sounds

  • Vacate the building by quickly walking to the nearest exit.

  • Alert people as you exit.

  • Direct people with disabilities to elevator lobbies when they are located on floors above or below ground level and tell them to wait for directions from AHC Police Department personnel.

  • FLASH the LIGHTS ON and OFF for deaf and hard of hearing people who might be in the building. Close all doors of empty rooms as you go.

  • Move to a clear area outside at least 150 feet away from the affected area. Keep the walkways clear for emergency vehicles.

    FACULTY:
    • Vacate your class to a gathering place, which you designate.
    • Take roll or a head count when you have reached the designated area to ensure that all students have vacated.

SUPERVISORS :

    • Survey the building to determine that it is fully vacated and to determine, if possible, the nature and extent of the problem.
    • If a fire or other emergency is found, dial 911, who will notify AHC Police Department.
  • From your cell phone call Santa Maria Police Dispatch 925-2631, or Lompoc Police Dispatch 736-4511

  • Once you have vacated, do not return to a building until told to do so by AHC police department personnel or by the administrator in charge.
