Graduation at Allan Hancock College

Congratulations to the 99th graduating class at Allan Hancock College!

Graduation ceremony will take place Friday, May 22, 2020 at 10:30 am. More details to come.

Information for Graduates

COMMENCEMENT PROGRAM

Commencement is on Friday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m., on the football field. Graduates will meet in Grad Central (Gym, building N), at 9:00 a.m. to line up for the processional. Please arrive no later than 9:00 am in your cap and gown.  There are no lockers to store personal belongings; therefore, please make arrangements for their safekeeping during graduation. The entire ceremony lasts approximately 120 minutes. Please respect your fellow graduates and the audience by remaining seated throughout the ceremony, except when called to the podium. 

DIPLOMA AVAILABILITY

At the ceremony, you will receive your diploma holder. Your diploma will be mailed early September. If your mailing address changes, please notify the Admissions & Records office at 1-805-922-6966 ext. 3281.  

CAPS AND GOWNS

Students are responsible for obtaining their own caps and gowns. Caps and gowns are required for commencement participation. They will be on sale (along with other graduation memorabilia) between the last week of April through the day of Commencement at the Allan Hancock College bookstore. The cap and gown are yours to keep or pass on to a relative or friend.  See student price list.

If you have a grade point average of 3.5 or above for all course work completed from all colleges attended through the fall semester 2019, you are entitled to wear a gold tassel on your cap. The Admissions and Records office will provide verification of your grade point average to the bookstore.  

Special Seating Due to Disability

Graduating students who may need special seating due to a disability will need to contact the Admissions and Records office 1-805-922-6966 ext. 3513 no later than Wednesday, May 15, 2020. If you need special seating arrangements for your guests because of a disability (i.e. wheelchair, etc.), a reserved seating area will be available for disabled guests. Your guests must be seated by 10:15 a.m. or their reserved seating will be opened to the general public.

The ceremony will be interpreted in ASL.

Graduating Veterans

Military Veterans at Allan Hancock College will be awarded with a graduation “Sash” to wear at graduation. If interested please contact Vernetta Crain, Program Assistant, Veterans Success Center at 1-805-922-6966 ext. 3925 by Wednesday, April 10, 2020.
